Terms of use

Play Starwright for yourself, don't take it apart, and Patron, when available, is a one-time Google Play purchase. Nothing here takes away the rights the law already gives you.

Effective 8 October 2026

At a glance

  • Starwright is free to play, for your own personal use.
  • When Patron is available, it will be a one-time purchase through Google Play. Refunds will follow Google Play’s policy and your legal rights.
  • Please don’t copy, modify or reverse engineer the app, or use tools to solve or extract its puzzles.
  • We look after the game in good faith, but we can’t promise it will never change or never have a bug.
  • Your rights as a consumer where you live always apply.

Who these terms are with

These terms are an agreement between you and Papalote Studio, an independent studio that makes Starwright. They cover the Starwright app and playstarwright.com. By installing or playing Starwright, you accept them. If you don’t, please don’t use the app.

The privacy policy explains what data the app uses. The Google Play terms also apply to anything you get through Google Play.

Your licence to play

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install Starwright on devices you own or control and to play it for your own non-commercial enjoyment. The licence lasts until you stop using the app or it ends under these terms.

Fair play

Please don’t:

  • copy, sell, rent or redistribute the app, its puzzles or its artwork;
  • modify, decompile or reverse engineer the app, or extract its puzzles or their solutions, except where the law allows it despite this term;
  • use bots, scripts or other tools to solve charts or to tamper with streaks, solve times or purchases;
  • use the app or this website to break the law or to interfere with other people’s use of them.

What belongs to whom

The app, its puzzles, artwork, text, sounds, the Starwright name and its marks belong to Papalote Studio or the people who licensed them to us. The names of the constellations belong to everyone.

The share image you make when you finish a chart is yours to post anywhere. Sharing it sends nothing to us.

Patron

Patron is not available in the daily-only release. When Patron is available, it will be a one-time, optional purchase that removes the ad from hints and unlocks the Vellum edition. It will be sold by Google Play and tied to the Google account you buy it with. If you reinstall the app or change phones, you will be able to restore it from the Patron screen.

  • Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policy. That doesn’t limit any right to a refund or repair you have under the law where you live.
  • Later perks we add for Patron go to everyone who already bought it.
  • Nothing that is free today will be moved behind Patron.

Ads

The free game shows one kind of ad: an optional video you can choose to watch for a hint. Watching is never required to play. The privacy policy explains how the ads work and how to change your ad choices.

Changes to the game

We keep improving Starwright, so features, puzzles and screens will change. We may also stop offering the game. If we do, we will say so in the app ahead of time where we can.

Ending this agreement

You can end it at any time by uninstalling the app. We may end your licence if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Ending it doesn’t affect a refund you are owed by law.

Our responsibility to you

We make Starwright with care and test it, but we provide it as it is. As far as the law allows, we don’t promise it will be free of errors or always available, and we are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably have foreseen, such as lost streaks after you uninstall or clear the app.

Nothing in these terms limits:

  • your rights as a consumer under the law where you live, including your rights if digital content is faulty or not as described;
  • our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Apart from that, our total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid us for Patron in the twelve months before the claim, or the equivalent of five US dollars if you paid nothing.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. If something goes wrong, please write to us first. Most problems are quicker to fix by email.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we update the date at the top and add a line below saying what changed. If a change matters to how you use the app, we will also say so in the app where we can, before it applies.

  • 8 October 2026: clarified that Patron is available with the Voyage release, not the daily-only release.
  • 3 October 2026: rewritten with a licence, fair-play rules, ownership, Patron details, ending the agreement, limits of responsibility that respect consumer law, and the law that applies.
  • 29 September 2026: first version.

The rest

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we haven’t given it up. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about Starwright.
